And it's $50 to renew
So that's my excuse as to why I'm not posting this until today.
Anyway, moving on. Wet n Wild have released 2 new 8-pan palettes for Spring 2014 as well as 5 or 6 nail polishes. I did not purchase any of the nail polishes simply because the shimmer in them didn't appeal to me. However I did get both of the palettes. I will go through every color (with swatches) and how I feel about them, but overall I am pretty impressed.
As I said, there are 2 new palettes. One is a purple palette (which is perfect for Pantone's new color of the year, radiant orchid) which is called "Flirting at the After Party." The other is a neutral bronzey kind of palette which is called "Walking the Red Carpet." Just a note, all these photos were taken in natural light.
The first one we'll go through is "Flirting at the After Party" and I will make a seperate post on "Walking the Red Carpet"
We'll work from the left down, keeping with the "zones" in the palette.
The first "Browbone" shade is a very pale lilacy pink type of shade, I'll post a zoomed in photo below so you can see the shade a little better. This shade is fairly soft and comes off on the skin as a satiny, slightly shimmery pearl with a pink undertone. It looks really pretty in the inner corner.
The "Eyelid" shade (below) is a muted medium to dark blue-toned matte purple with pink and silver sparkle. It is very smooth and decently pigmented. The glitter you see in the pan doesn't transfer to the eye very much, so it comes off mostly matte. I really enjoy this shade and the texture is impeccable.
The "Crease" shade is a soft, lighter lavender color that is completely matte. It is extremely smooth and reminds me in texture of Lorac matte eyeshadows. It is pretty nicely pigmented and blends very easily. I think this shade is really pretty.
The "Definer" shade is a dark, shimmery eggplant with a bit of fine pinkish glitter. This color is pigmented enough however slightly dry and flaky. I do however think it's a pretty color and definitely workable. When using this shade you need to take care to not overblend or it tends to disappear.
NEXT ROW
The "Browbone" shade is a beautiful light pink with a purple-pink shift. This is my favorite shade in the palette. The texture is very soft and a tiny bit powdery. It is very pigmented, though being as light as it is, it is hard to pick up on camera.
The "Eyelid" shade is a quite bright orchid color. It is a completely matte shade. The texture, as with the other matte in the palette, is extremely smooth and easily blended. That being said, it can be blended away if you overblend.
The "Crease" shade is a bit of a deeper fuchsia color with a very fine blue glitter. The glitter doesn't transfer to the eye or even in a swatch for that matter, but this shade is very pretty and pigmented. It goes on smoothly with a satiny finish. The crease and eyelid colors look very similar in the photos, however the eyelid color is much more red-toned in person
The final "Definer" shade is a very plum color. It is very nicely pigmented with a nice texture. It has a satiny, slightly pearly finish with a very very slight reddish glitter. On the eye, it doesn't show up particularly plummy but it does look very pretty to deepen up the outer v or crease.
Overall, I am very impressed with this palette. Some of Wet n Wild's recent palette releases haven't been quite up to par, but I feel this palette overall is returning to the original Wet n Wild quality like you see in the trios. I would recommend it.
Overall, 4/5
